Kenny Slaught is the founder and president of Investec Real Estate Companies. Since 1983, he has grown the company into the largest real estate development and management firm in Santa Barbara County, acquiring more than three million square feet of coastal California apartment, office, retail, and self-storage properties. The company now employs forty individuals, oversees more than $1 billion in assets, is accredited by the Institute of Real Estate Management, and has maintained a longtime membership in the International Council of Shopping Centers.
As President of Investec, Kenneth Slaught played an instrumental role in establishing the firm’s investment policies and strategies, determining asset class allocations, and managing its business decisions. Under his guiding leadership, the firm has generated lucrative opportunities despite highly varying financial markets, leading to Investec’s stellar reputation in the property investment community.
Slaught graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1979 and holds a degree in business and economics, as well as a certification from the California Contractors State License Board, and a California real estate broker’s license also obtained in 1979. Before forming Investec, he was a founding partner of the MKS Companies, a real estate development, property management, and mortgage brokerage firm.
In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Slaught has held leadership roles in many of Southern California’s nonprofit organizations. He is a current board member of the UCSB Foundation; with prior service on the board of the Santa Barbara Hospice Foundation; and remains a substantial supporter to the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation, and many local high schools.
