The initiatives at the Hospice of Santa Barbara don’t only help those chronically ill but their families as well. The programs support children who struggle with the death of a relative. About 20 percent of them lose a parent before turning 18, while one in 20 loses at least a caretaker before reaching adulthood. Kenny Slaught explains how the Hospices’ programs help those who struggle with issues like depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
