Santa Barbara’s commitment to charity is the third reason why it has such a strong community, says Kenny Slaught. The city has numerous nonprofit organizations and charities ever since 1928, when the Santa Barbara Foundation was founded. The local nonprofits respond fast to the community’s requests, and minimize the need of involving national foundations.
